A Dual Exhibition of Works by Carol Siegel & Stephen John Mittl Jr.
May 29 - July 1Free
Stephen John Mittl Jr.
I am a juried abstract artist who works exclusively with acrylics. My finished pieces are non-representational and emerge as a product of my spontaneous creative process. The strongest influence in my paintings is my passion for color. I view each blank canvas as a challenge to create a unique color palette.
The essence of my art is in its constant evolution through trial-and-error and the use of multiple painting tools.
Being a self-taught painter has allowed me to develop my own techniques that I have discovered and refined over time.
Stephen is a self-taught abstract artist currently residing in Wyomissing, PA, with his wife, Jill. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.
A chance encounter with noted New York City artist, Martha Murphy, served as an inspiration to begin painting.
Stephen has exhibited his works at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts and Louis Long Gallery (both in Reading, PA), as well as Studio B, Boyertown, PA; America on Wheels Museum, Allentown, PA; and many local businesses.
He has been featured in Berks County Living magazine and the Reading Eagle newspaper. Most recently, his work was featured in the January 2020 edition of Wyomissing Neighbors magazine.
His painting, Improvisation, was awarded Honorable Mention in the Berks Arts Council’s “The Art of Jazz – 2017.”
