Ever wonder what D&D could look like if brought to life? We will get pretty close to finding out over these two weeks. Using tips and tricks of actors/ directors we will focus on creating a dramatic story arc, characters and the basics of what it means to create a campaign. In the second week, campers who choose to, will get to run a mini campaign or part of the larger campaign created by the group. The name may be dungeons and dragons, but did you know a campaign could be in a water park? The possibilities are endless – and you get art supplies to help make cool stuff to go with it!

Blend a performance opportunity with the skill building to improve any performance. Led by Yocum Theater Faculty, this popular summer experience gives young actors training in voice, dance and acting while working towards putting on a fabulous production for the public. We will continue to adjust as needed for Covid mitigation in keeping with both state mandates and best practices for youth theater across the nation.
About the show: Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Not your typical modern play! In this brand new version, the actors tackle, tumble, trick, and trip their way through the tale with fantastic abandon. Get ready for action-packed clowning with puppets, patter verse, and mock combat. This adventure will toss actors back in time to learn the Italian acting form of commedia dell’arte. This form created the silly and fun stock characters we see today in cartoons and Disney sitcoms.
